INTRODUCTION:
Some Yaris vehicles may exhibit a condition where corrosion appears on or near the trunk lid around the license plate garnish area. Performing the following procedure will correct this condition and prevent it from recurring.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Confirm the ID code on the label. If part has an ID code of S901 or earlier perform repair procedure A. If after, perform procedure B. Examples of codes after this are S902 or SX##.







NOTE:
Due to varying degrees of staining that can develop, some vehicles may need to be repainted (or stain will need to be cleaned).

Repair Procedure A
Perform the following procedure if the service part identification code is S901 or earlier.
1. Remove the garnish from the trunk lid.
Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:
- Division: Toyota
- Model: Yaris
- Year: 2007/ 2008/ 2009/ 2010
- Service Category: Vehicle Exterior
- Section: Lighting
- Keyword: License Plate Light Assembly (for Sedan): Removal

2. Repair the affected painted surface on the trunk.







3. On the back side of the NEW service part, peel back the black sponge material on the LH and/or RH side.







4. Remove / trim off the boss from garnish by using a utility knife.
5. Repeat for the opposite side.
6. Lay sponge material back down to original position.
7. Install the NEW garnish on the vehicle, Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:

Repair Procedure B
Perform the following procedure if the service part identification code is after S902.
1. Remove the garnish from the trunk lid, Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:
- Division: Toyota

- Year: 2007/ 2008/ 2009/ 2010
- Service Category: Vehicle Exterior
- Section: Lighting

2. Repair the affected painted surface on the trunk
3. Install the NEW garnish on the vehicle, Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:
