DTC B1500 - Fuel Sender Open Detected

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when the combination meter detects a fuel sender gauge malfunction via the CAN.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL SENDER GAUGE)
(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select the Data List. Scan Tool Testing and Procedures

Combination Meter





OK:
Fuel value displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as needle indication.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SENDER GAUGE AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SENDER GAUGE AND BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the E7 and E8 meter connectors.
(b) Disconnect the N1 gauge connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the fuel sender gauge.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the fuel sender gauge.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
