DTC B1630/23 - Rear Airbag Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction

DTC B1695/16 - Door Side Airbag Sensor LH Malfunction

DESCRIPTION
HINT: "Door side airbag sensor LH" refer to the side airbag sensor LH.

- The side airbag sensor LH or rear airbag sensor RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1630/23 or B1695/16 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor LH or rear airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. DTC Check / Clear
(c) Turn the engine switch off.
(d) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check for DTCs. DTC Check / Clear

B -- CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH
A -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
C -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH





(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Temporarily replace the rear airbag sensor RH with a new one.
(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. DTC Check / Clear
(g) Turn the engine switch off.
(h) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs. DTC Check / Clear
OK:
DTC B1630 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1630 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH
3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH





(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. DTC Check / Clear
(g) Turn the engine switch off.
(h) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs. DTC Check / Clear

Result





HINT: Codes other than DTC B1690 and B1695 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(j) Turn the engine switch off.
(k) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(l) Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
