DTC C1283/83 - L4 Position Switch Malfunction (Test Mode DTC)

DESCRIPTION

A-TRAC is activated if wheel skid is detected while the transfer is in the L4 position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (EXI4 TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:

NG -- INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for L4 POSITION)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. PERFORM TEST MODE INSPECTION (SIGNAL CHECK)
(a) Check if the test mode DTC (C1283/83) is detected.
Result:

B -- REPAIR TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH CIRCUIT (for L4 POSITION)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Check if the same DTC is recorded Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result:

B -- END
A -- REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
4. INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for L4 POSITION)

(a) Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (for L4 position) connector.
(b) Remove the transfer indicator switch (for L4 position).
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for L4 POSITION)
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (for L4 position) connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
