DTC B2796 - No Communication in Immobiliser System

DTC B2798 - Communication Malfunction No. 2

DESCRIPTION

These DTCs are output if a key that does not have a transponder chip is inserted into the ignition key cylinder or if communication between the key and transponder key ECU assembly is impossible.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
- If the transponder key ECU is replaced, register the key and ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/O Smart Key System).
- If the key is replaced, register the key Engine Immobiliser System (W/O Smart Key System).

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE ON TECHSTREAM (IMMOBILISER SYSTEM STATUS)
(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Turn the tester on.
(d) Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / Immobiliser / Data List.
(e) Select Immobiliser in the Data List and read the tester display.

Immobiliser (Transponder Key ECU):





OK:
UNSET (Ignition switch ON) appears on the screen.
NG -- CHECK KEYS
OK -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY
2. CHECK KEYS
(a) Insert the vehicle's other key into the ignition key cylinder.
(b) Check that the engine starts with this key.
OK:
The engine starts.
NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. RE-REGISTER KEY
(a) Re-register the key Engine Immobiliser System (W/O Smart Key System).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK ENGINE START
(a) Check that the engine starts.
OK:
The engine starts.
NG -- REPLACE KEY
OK -- END (PROBLEM WITH KEY REGISTRATION IS DEFECTIVE)
5. REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER
(a) Replace the transponder key amplifier Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK ENGINE START
(a) Check that the engine starts.
OK:
The engine starts.
NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY
OK -- END (TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER IS DEFECTIVE)
