DESCRIPTION

The recirculation damper servo sub-assembly sends pulse signals to inform the air conditioning amplifier assembly of the damper position. The air conditioning amplifier assembly activates the motor (normal or reverse) based on the signals to move the air inlet damper to any position, which controls the intake air settings (fresh, fresh/recirculation and recirculation).

Confirm that no mechanical problem is present because this trouble code may be stored when either a damper link or damper is mechanically locked.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO)

(a) Use the Data List to check if the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly is functioning properly Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System).

OK:

The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

C -- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO)

B -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY Removal

A -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Air Conditioning System (For Automatic Air Conditioning System)

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO)

(a) Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly operates Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System).

OK:

Recirculation damper servo sub-assembly operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REPLACE RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Replace the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly Disassembly.

HINT
Since the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly cannot be inspected while it is removed from the vehicle, replace the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly with a new or normally functioning one.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System).

(b) Check for DTCs Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System).

OK:

DTC B1442 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

OK -- END (RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY)

5. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

(a) Temporarily replace the air conditioning amplifier assembly with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System).

(b) Check for DTCs Air Conditioning System (for Automatic Air Conditioning System).

OK:

DTC B1442 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING HARNESS ASSEMBLY Disassembly

OK -- END (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY)
