Applicability

Introduction

Some Avalon Camry and Solara vehicles may exhibit a rattle type noise coming from underneath the vehicle while driving. This may be caused by the lower center fuel tank protector contacting the exhaust pipe. An updated part has been released to address this concern.

Production Change Information

This TSB applies to:





^ All 2008 - 2011 Avalon vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown.





^ All 2007 - 2011 Camry vehicles EXCEPT SE models produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

All 2007 - 2008 Solara vehicles.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure





1. Remove the rear exhaust pipe supports by removing the 7 bolts then support the exhaust. Torque: 33 N*m (337 kgf*cm, 24 ft*lbf)

NOTE
It is only necessary to lower one muffler (either side) on dual exhaust vehicles.








2. 2AR equipped vehicles only:

Remove the No.2 floor under cover by removing the 2 clips and 6 grommets.





3. Remove and replace the lower center fuel tank protector with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in*lbf)

4. Reassemble vehicle in reverse order of disassembly.
