B2272
THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: SMART KEY SYSTEM (for Start Function): B2272: Ignition 1 Monitor Malfunction
B2272 - Ignition 1 Monitor Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when there is a problem in the IG1D output circuit, which is from the inside of the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) to the IG1 relay.
HINT
When the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) is replaced with a new one and the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal is connected, the power source mode becomes the IG-ON mode. When the battery is removed and reinstalled, the power source mode that was selected when the battery was removed is restored.
After the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) is replaced, perform the registration procedures for the engine immobiliser system Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
(c) Select the item below in the Data List, and read the display on the Techstream.
HINT
When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, turn on and off any of the door courtesy light switches repeatedly at 1.5 second intervals or less until communication between the Techstream and vehicle starts.
Main Body
Main Body:
OK:
"ON" (engine switch on (IG)) appears on the screen.
NG -- INSPECT RELAY (IG1 RELAY)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Smart Key System (for Start Function).
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) After 10 seconds have elapsed, check if the trouble occurs again.
OK:
DTC B2272 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
3. INSPECT RELAY (IG1 RELAY)
(a) Remove the IG1 relay from the instrument panel junction block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPLACE IG1 RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK - MAIN BODY ECU)
(a) Disconnect the 2F junction block connector.
(b) Disconnect the E51 ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK - MAIN BODY ECU)
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the 2E and 2G junction block connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
