THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM (w/o Smart Key System): B2796,B2798: No Communication in Immobiliser System

DESCRIPTION

These DTCs are output if a key that does not have a transponder chip is inserted into the ignition key cylinder or if communication between the key and the transponder key ECU assembly is impossible.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
- If the transponder key ECU assembly is replaced, register the key and ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/O Smart Key System).
- If the key is replaced, register the key Engine Immobiliser System (W/O Smart Key System).

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Immobiliser / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

OK:

On the Techstream screen, the item changes between UNSET and SET according to the chart above.

NG -- CHECK KEY

OK -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY Removal

2. CHECK KEY

(a) Insert the vehicle's other key into the ignition key cylinder.

(b) Check that the engine starts with this key.

OK:

The engine starts.

NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. RE-REGISTER KEY

(a) Re-register the key Engine Immobiliser System (W/O Smart Key System).

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK ENGINE START

(a) Check that the engine starts.

OK:

The engine starts.

NG -- REPLACE KEY

OK -- END (KEY REGISTRATION IS DEFECTIVE)

5. REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER

(a) Replace the transponder key amplifier Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK ENGINE START

(a) Check that the engine starts.

OK:

The engine starts.

NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- END (TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER IS DEFECTIVE)
