SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization
3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal
4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
5. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System) Removal
6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System) Removal
7. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts.
(b) Disengage the 2 hooks.
(c) Pull out the driver side knee airbag assembly from the vehicle and support the driver side knee airbag assembly with one hand as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:
When removing the driver side knee airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
(d) Disconnect the tire pressure warning reset switch connector.
(e) Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the driver side knee airbag connector.
NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(f) Disengage the 2 claws and separate the DLC3 from the driver side knee airbag assembly.
