Removal
WINDSHIELD / WINDOWGLASS: WINDSHIELD GLASS: REMOVAL
1. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/o EC Mirror) Removal
2. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR STAY HOLDER COVER (w/ EC Mirror) Removal
3. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/ EC Mirror) Removal
4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH Removal
5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH Removal
6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH
(a) Disengage the 2 claws.
(b) Disengage the 2 double-sided tapes.
(c) Disengage the claw and remove the front fender to cowl side seal LH as shown in the illustration.
7. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH
HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.
8. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 clips.
(b) Disengage the 20 claws and remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.
9. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal
10. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH Removal
11. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal
12. REMOVE VISOR BRACKET COVER (for LH Side) Removal
13. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH Removal
14. REMOVE VISOR BRACKET COVER (for RH Side) Removal
15. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH Removal
16. REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof)
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 6 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.
NOTICE:
Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.
HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Disengage the 4 clips and remove the assist grip sub-assembly.
(c) Remove the 4 clips from the vehicle body.
NOTICE:
Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.
17. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof) Removal
18. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER Removal
19. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY
It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining assembly. Slightly lower the front section of the roof headlining assembly so that the windshield glass can be removed.
20. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS
(a) Disconnect the connector and clamp. (w/ Deicer)
(b) Disconnect the windshield glass stoppers.
NOTICE:
* There are No. 1 and No. 2 stoppers on the windshield glass sub-assembly as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass when cutting off the adhesive.
* To prevent the windshield glass sub-assembly from dropping when performing this operation, be sure to hold the windshield glass sub-assembly using suction cups.
HINT
Depending on the vehicle, a 1-piece or 2-piece type stopper is used.
(c) Apply protective tape to the installation position of the windshield glass sub-assembly on the vehicle body.
NOTICE:
Apply protective tape to the installation surface to prevent it from being scratched.
(d) Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and windshield glass sub-assembly from the interior.
(e) Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
(f) Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the windshield glass sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
* When separating the windshield glass sub-assembly from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.
* To prevent the instrument panel from being scratched when removing the windshield glass sub-assembly, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and instrument panel.
* Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the windshield glass sub-assembly.
(g) Place matchmarks on the windshield glass sub-assembly and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.
HINT
Matchmarks are not needed if the windshield glass sub-assembly is not going to be reused.
(h) Using suction cups, remove the windshield glass sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to drop the windshield glass sub-assembly.
21. REMOVE WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM
(a) Using a scraper, remove the windshield glass adhesive dam.
NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
* Be sure to replace the adhesive dam with a new one.
22. REMOVE NO. 2 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER
(a) Using a scraper, remove the No. 2 window glass stoppers.
NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
* Be sure to replace the No. 2 windshield glass stoppers with new ones.
23. REMOVE NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type)
(a) Remove the 2 No. 1 windshield glass stoppers.
NOTICE:
Be sure to replace the No. 1 windshield glass stoppers with new ones.
24. CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS
(a) Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dams and adhesive sticking to the glass.
(b) Clean the outer edges of the glass with a non-residue solvent.
NOTICE:
Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.
Even if using new glass, clean it with a non-residue solvent.
25. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY
(a) Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the vehicle body.
(1) On the contact surfaces of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.
HINT
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
(b) Clean the contact surfaces of the vehicle body with cleaner.
HINT
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
