How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
DOOR LOCK: SMART KEY SYSTEM: HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
HINT
* Use the following procedures to troubleshoot the smart key system.
* The Techstream can be used in steps 4, 5, 6 and 8.

2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS CHECK
HINT
* In troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred.
* Gather as much information as possible for reference. Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases.
* The following 5 items are important points in the problem analysis:

3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE
(a) Measure the battery voltage.
Standard voltage:
11 to 14 V
(b) If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.
Result:
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Use the Techstream to check if the LIN communication system is functioning normally.
Result:
A -- GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
B -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output, try to cause the same steering lock system DTC, engine immobiliser system DTC, wireless door lock control system DTC or smart key system (starting) DTC to be output by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTCs.
Result:
A -- GO TO STEERING LOCK SYSTEM
B -- GO TO ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM
C -- GO TO WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM
D -- GO TO SMART KEY SYSTEM (STARTING)
E -- Continue to next step.
7. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
Result:
B -- GO TO STEP 9
A -- Continue to next step.
8. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING
(a) OPERATION CHECK Operation Check
(b) DATA LIST/ACTIVE TEST Door Lock - Smart Key System
(c) TERMINALS OF ECU Door Lock - Smart Key System
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
9. REPAIR OR REPLACE
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
