Glass Breakage Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the glass breakage sensor detects that the any door glass is tapped or broken, the sensor will set off an alarm for 60 seconds.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream main switch on.

(d) Select the item below in the Data List and then check that the indicator operates.

Security





OK:

When tapping on the glass breakage sensor microphone with your finger, "ON" is displayed on the Techstream screen.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE)

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Theft Deterrent System

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE)

(a) Disconnect the E70 glass breakage sensor ECU assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THEFT WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY - GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU)

(a) Disconnect the E72 theft warning ECU assembly connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU - GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR MICROPHONE)

(a) Disconnect the E71 glass breakage sensor microphone connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. INSPECT GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU ASSEMBLY (MICROPHONE OUTPUT)

(a) Reconnect the E70 glass breakage sensor ECU assembly, E71 glass breakage sensor microphone and E72 theft warning ECU assembly connectors.





(b) Connect an oscilloscope to terminal 5 (GBSI) of the glass breakage sensor ECU assembly and body ground.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(d) Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.









OK:

As shown in the illustration

OK -- REPLACE GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REPLACE GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR MICROPHONE

(a) Replace glass breakage sensor microphone.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR

(a) Check the glass breakage sensor operation Theft Deterrent System.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(d) Turn the Techstream main switch on.

(e) Select the item below in the Data List and then check that the indicator operates.

OK:

When tapping on the glass breakage sensor microphone with your finger, "ON" is displayed on the Techstream screen.

9. REPLACE GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU ASSEMBLY

(a) Replace glass breakage sensor ECU assembly Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR

(a) Check the glass breakage sensor operation Theft Deterrent System.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(d) Turn the Techstream main switch on.

(e) Select the item below in the Data List and then check that the indicator operates.
