Removal





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The following procedure is for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

4. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP Removal

5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

6. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP Removal

7. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Driver Side) Removal

8. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side) Removal

9. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Front Passenger Side) Removal

10. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (for Front Passenger Side) Removal

11. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH Removal

12. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector from the side airbag sensor.





NOTICE:
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(d) Remove the bolt and disengage the pin, and remove the side airbag sensor.

NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor because the side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
