INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the radio automatic station search function.

(1) Check the radio automatic station search function by activating it.

OK:

The radio automatic station search function works properly.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - ANTENNA AMPLIFIER)

OK -- REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - ANTENNA AMPLIFIER)

(a) Disconnect E85 navigation receiver assembly connector.





(b) Disconnect E81 antenna amplifier connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Reconnect navigation receiver assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK OPTIONAL COMPONENTS

(a) Check optional components (sun-shade film, telephone antenna, etc.).

(1) Check if any optional components that may decrease reception capacity, such as sunshade film or a telephone antenna, are installed.

OK:

Optional components are installed.

NOTICE:
Do not remove any optional components installed by the customer without his or her consent.

NG -- CHECK ANTENNA FOR NOISE PRODUCTION

OK -- REMOVE OPTIONAL COMPONENTS AND CHECK AGAIN (SEE NOTICE ABOVE)

5. CHECK ANTENNA FOR NOISE PRODUCTION

(a) With the ignition switch ON, turn on the radio and choose the AM mode.

(b) Place the tip of a screwdriver on the antenna and check that noise is heard from the speakers.

OK:

Noise is heard.

NG -- CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal

6. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Preparation for check





(1) Remove the antenna plug from the navigation receiver assembly.

(b) Check for noise

(1) Turn the ignition switch to ACC with the navigation receiver assembly connector connected.

(2) Turn the radio on and tune into AM mode.

(3) Place a screwdriver, thin wire, or other metal object on the navigation receiver assembly antenna jack and check that noise can be heard from the speaker.

OK:

Noise occurs.

NG -- REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table
