B2251 - Back Door Closer Switch Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The power back door drive unit (power back door ECU) inputs signals from the full-latch switch, sector switch and back door courtesy light switch, which are built into the back door lock. Based on these switch signals, the latch position of the back door lock is determined.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (HALF LATCH SW)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Back Door / Data List /

(e) According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

Back Door (Power Back Door ECU)





OK:

The display is as specified in the normal condition.

NG -- INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK (LATCH SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Back Door / Data List /

(e) According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

Back Door (Power Back Door ECU)





OK:

The display is as specified in the normal condition.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR ECU - POWER BACK DOOR ECU)

OK -- REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT (POWER BACK DOOR ECU) Removal

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR ECU - POWER BACK DOOR ECU)

(a) Disconnect the V2 back door ECU connector.





(b) Disconnect the O30 power back door ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the back door ECU connector.

(e) Reconnect the power back door ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. READ VALUE USING BACK DOOR ECU (BACK DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Back Door P/W / Data List /

(e) According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

Back Door P/W (Back Door ECU)





OK:

The display is as specified in the normal condition.

NG -- INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK (BACK DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH)

OK -- REPLACE BACK DOOR ECU Disassembly

5. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK (BACK DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH)





(a) Remove the back door lock Removal.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK - BACK DOOR ECU AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the V5 door lock connector.





(b) Disconnect the V2 and V3 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the door lock and ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT

(a) Temporarily replace the power back door drive unit with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

8. CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs Back Door Closer System.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

9. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

(a) Check the DTCs Back Door Closer System.

OK:

DTC not output B2251.

NG -- REPLACE BACK DOOR ECU Disassembly

OK -- END (POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT DEFECTIVE)

10. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK (LATCH SWITCH)





(a) Remove the back door lock Removal.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Latch Switch





NG -- REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

(a) Disconnect the V5 door lock connector.





(b) Disconnect the O30, V2 and V3 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the door lock and ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT (POWER BACK DOOR ECU) Removal
