ABS (Antilock Brake System)

BRAKE CONTROL: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR

1. DTC CHECK/CLEAR (When Using Techstream)

(a) Check the DTC.

(1) Turn the ignition switch off.

(2) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(3) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(4) Turn the Techstream on.

(5) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / DTC.

(6) Check the details of the DTCs ABS (Antilock Brake System).

HINT
Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.

(b) Clear the DTC.

(1) Turn the ignition switch off.

(2) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(3) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(4) Turn the Techstream on.

(5) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / DTC / Clear.

(6) Clear the DTCs by following the prompts on the Techstream.

2. DTC CHECK / CLEAR (for Using an SST Check Wire)

(a) Check DTCs.





(1) Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

SST : 09843-18040





(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(3) Observe the blinking pattern of the ABS warning light in order to identify the DTC.

HINT
* If no code appears, inspect the ABS warning light circuit or TC and CG terminal circuit.






(4) Count the number of blinks of the ABS warning light.

HINT
* When the system is operating correctly, each light will blink continuously in a pattern of 0.25 seconds on, then 0.25 seconds off.
* When one DTC is output, each lamp will output the same code at 4 second intervals. (For example, Code 21 would be output as 2 flashes, a 1.5-second pause, and then 1 flash)
* When 2 or more DTCs are output, each lamp will output a different code at 2.5-second intervals, and when all codes have been output, there will be a 4-second pause and the sequence will repeat.
* When multiple codes are set, they are output in order starting with the lowest DTC number.
* DTCs are explained in DTC chart ABS (Antilock Brake System).
(5) After completing the check, disconnect SST from terminals TC and CG of the DLC3, and turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Clear DTCs.

(1) Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.





(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

SST : 09843-18040





(3) Clear the DTCs stored in the ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 times or more within 5 seconds.





(4) Check that the warning light blinks in the normal system indication pattern.

(5) Remove SST from the terminals of the DLC3.

(6) Turn the ignition switch off.

HINT
Clearing the DTCs cannot be performed by removing the battery cable.

3. END OF DTC CHECK / CLEAR

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Check that the ABS warning light goes off within approximately 3 seconds.

(c) Turn the ignition switch off.
