DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter via the CAN communication system.
When the vehicle is changed to 4WD (L4L mode), VSC control turns off and the VSC OFF indicator light illuminates.

NOTICE:
When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
Result
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM CAN Communication System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (VSC/TRAC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Select the Active Test mode and operate the VSC OFF indicator light using the Techstream.
ABS/VSC/TRAC
(e) Check that the VSC OFF indicator light turns on and off in the combination meter when using the Techstream.
OK:
The VSC OFF indicator light turns on and off in accordance with the Techstream operation.
HINT
When the VSC OFF indicator light remains illuminated, there may be an open in the wire harness of the combination meter or abnormalities in the meter circuit.
NG -- GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH
(a) Remove the VSC OFF switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPLACE VSC OFF SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - VSC OFF SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the A17 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the J22 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY Removal
