PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension): DISASSEMBLY

HINT
* Perform the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement

3. REMOVE REAR DISC Disassembly

4. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

(a) Remove the No. 3 parking brake shoe return tension spring.





5. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

(a) Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe return tension spring.





6. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING

(a) Using SST, turn the No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin and remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down compression spring as shown in the illustration.

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT

(a) Pull the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly outward by hand.





(b) Remove the parking brake shoe strut.





8. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING

(a) Using SST, turn the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin and remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down compression spring as shown in the illustration.

9. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

(a) Pull the No. 1 and No. 2 parking brake shoe assemblies outward by hand, then pull them out toward the lower of the vehicle, as shown in the illustration.





(b) Separate the parking brake shoe lever from the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.





10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET

(a) Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.





11. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

(a) Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe return tension spring.





12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

(a) Using needle-nose pliers, remove the parking brake shoe lever from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

13. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN SPRING PIN

(a) Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.





14. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN SPRING PIN

(a) Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.
