DESCRIPTION
The ECM sends engine coolant temperature sensor signals to the combination meter assembly via CAN communication. Then the combination meter assembly indicates the engine coolant temperature.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
* If DTC U0100 has been stored, troubleshoot the CAN communication system first.
* If there is an open or short in the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit, an SFI system DTC is output. If output, perform troubleshooting for the SFI system.
PROCEDURE
1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (WATER TEMPERATURE METER OPERATION)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
(e) Check the operation by referring to the values in the table below.
Combination Meter:
OK:
Needle indication is normal.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (COOLANT TEMPERATURE)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
(e) Check the values by referring to the table below.
Combination Meter:
OK:
Engine coolant temperature value displayed on the tester is almost the same as needle indication.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- GO TO SFI SYSTEM
