B1648/82 - Front Passenger Side Satellite Sensor Bus Initialization Incomplete
DESCRIPTION
When the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1648/82 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(b) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(c) Turn the ignition switch off.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC B1627/82 is not output.
DTC B1637/82 is not output.
HINT
DTCs other than DTC B1627/82 and B1637/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
NG -- GO TO DTC OUTPUT
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor, rear airbag sensor RH and the side airbag sensor RH.
OK:
The connectors are properly connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (OPEN)
(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the side airbag sensor RH.
(b) Using a service wire, connect L10-4*1, L27-4*2 (BBR+) and L10-3*1, L27-3*2 (BBR-) of connector C.
NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (SHORT)
(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector C.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (TO B+)
(a) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (TO GROUND)
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (OPEN)
(a) Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor RH and the rear airbag sensor RH.
(b) Using a service wire, connect L12-1*1, L28-1*2 (BCR-) and L12-2*1, L28-2*2 (BCR+) of connector C.
NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector C.

9. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (TO B+)
(a) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

10. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (TO GROUND)
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.
11. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH
(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.
(b) Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with the side airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.
(c) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(f) Turn the ignition switch off.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result

DTCs other than DTC B1643/81 or B1648/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
C -- REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

12. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with the rear airbag sensor RH and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(g) Turn the ignition switch off.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
