Removal





INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.

1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

HINT
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet codes in the table below.





2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal

6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal

8. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal

9. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal

11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH Removal

12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH Removal

13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal

14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH

(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 7 claws and remove the side panel.





15. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the 2 bolts.





(b) Detach the 9 clips and claw.

(c) Detach the 2 claws and remove the sensor.





(d) Remove the finish panel and then disconnect the connectors.

17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

18. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

19. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

20. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX POCKET Removal

21. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

22. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET Removal

23. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal

24. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX Removal

25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the 4 claws and remove the instrument panel finish panel retainer.

(b) Disconnect the 2 connectors and detach the wire harness clamp.





(c) Detach the 12 clips and remove the finish panel.

26. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

27. REMOVE CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

(a) Detach the 4 clips and 2 claws.





(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the finish panel.

28. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

29. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/o USB Audio System) Removal

30. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ USB Audio System) Removal

31. REMOVE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Navigation System without USB Audio System) Removal

32. REMOVE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Navigation System with USB Audio System) Removal

33. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH Removal

34. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH Removal

35. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH Removal

36. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH Removal

37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH

(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 claws and remove the side panel.





38. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the clip and 4 claws.

(b) Detach the 2 guides and remove the under cover.

39. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL

(a) Remove the screw [D] and bolt [A].





(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the panel.

40. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

41. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the bolt [A] and 3 [D] screws.





(b) Detach the 3 claws and remove the finish panel.

(c) Disconnect the connector.





42. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 6 [B] or [H] screws.





(b) Detach the clip and remove the box door.

43. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Apply protective tape, as shown in the illustration.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 clips and claw, and remove the speaker panel.

(a) Slide the slider and disconnect the airbag connector.

(b) Detach the wire harness clamps and disconnect the connectors.

(c) Remove the bolt and wire harness.





(d) Remove the 2 [F] passenger airbag bolts.

(e) Remove the 3 [C] bolts and 2 [E] nuts.





(f) Detach the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel.





57. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 8 Speakers)

(a) Slide the slider and disconnect the airbag connector.

(b) Detach the wire harness clamps and disconnect the connectors.

(c) Remove the bolt and wire harness.





(d) Remove the 2 [F] passenger airbag bolts.

(e) Remove the 3 [C] bolts and 2 [E] nuts.





(f) Detach the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel.





58. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY

(a) Detach the 3 claws and remove the 3 stays.





59. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL CLIP

(a) Detach the 2 claws and remove the 2 clips.





60. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT

(a) Detach the clamp.

(b) Remove the 5 [G] or [H] screws and duct.





61. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT





(a) Remove the 2 [G] or [H] screws.

(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the duct.

62. REMOVE NO. 2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT





(a) Remove the 2 [G] or [H] screws.

(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the duct.

63. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 [G] or [H] screws and the defroster nozzle.

64. REMOVE NO. 4 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 [G] or [H] screws and the register.

65. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 [G] or [H] screws and the register.

66. REMOVE NAVIGATION ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (w/ Navigation System) Removal

67. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors.

(b) Detach the wire harness clamps and remove the instrument panel wire.





68. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

69. REMOVE ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 screws and accessory meter.

70. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR





(a) Detach the 2 claws and remove the automatic light control sensor.

71. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN





(a) Remove the 2 [G] or [H] screws and 2 instrument panel pins.
