C1234
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1234, C1472: Yaw Rate Sensor
C1472 - Acceleration Sensor
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU receives signals from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (for separate type) or yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) (for built-in type) via the CAN communication system.
HINT
If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (for separate type) or yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) (for built-in type) and the CAN communication system, DTC U0123 (Lost Communication with Yaw Rate Sensor Module) is output. When U0123 is output together with C1234 and/or C1472, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0123 first.
DTCs may be stored if one of the following occurs:
* Yaw rate and acceleration sensor circuit malfunction.
* Yaw rate and acceleration sensor installation abnormality (for separate type).
* Yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) installation abnormality (for built-in type).
* Yaw rate and acceleration sensor signal malfunction.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
When U0123 and/or U0126 is output together with C1234 and/or C1472, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0123 and/or U0126 first Vehicle Stability Control System.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Start the engine.
(d) At a speed of 30 km/h (18 mph) or more, drive the vehicle, turn the steering wheel, and decelerate (depress the brake pedal) the vehicle.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON again and check that no CAN communication system DTC is output Diagnosis System.
Result:
B -- INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM How to Proceed With Troubleshooting
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CONFIRM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR TYPE
(a) Confirm the yaw rate and acceleration sensor type.
Result:
B -- CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor has been installed properly Installation.
OK:
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be tilted.
NG -- INSTALL YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR CORRECTLY Installation
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL)
(a) Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.
(b) Disconnect the yaw rate and acceleration sensor connector.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GROUND TERMINAL)
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts Problem Symptoms Table.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GROUND CIRCUIT)
OK -- REPLACE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR Removal
6. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) has been installed properly Installation.
OK:
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be tilted.
