DESCRIPTION
The illuminated entry system controls the engine switch illumination.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* Before performing the following inspection, check that the engine switch illumination has not been turned off using the rheostat function.
* The engine switch illumination can be turned off by using the rheostat knob to select the minimum illuminance level with the taillights on.
PROCEDURE
1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
(e) Check that the illumination operates.
Main Body
OK:
Engine switch illumination comes on.
NG -- INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Interior Lighting System
2. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH
(a) Remove the engine switch Removal for 2AR-FE, Removal for 2GR-FE).
(b) Inspect the engine switch Testing and Inspection for 2AR-FE, Testing and Inspection for 2GR-FE).
OK:
Engine switch illumination comes on.
Result
B -- REPLACE ENGINE SWITCH Removal
C -- REPLACE ENGINE SWITCH Removal
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY))
(a) Disconnect the I78 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
(b) Disconnect the I58 engine switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) Removal
