Introduction

Some 2012 model year vehicles equipped with the Denso Premium HDD AVN Radio may exhibit one or more of the following conditions:

^ When the audio preset switches are depressed, the radio will not properly respond to switch commands.

^ After moving the shifter from Reverse to Drive, the display is stuck on the back-up camera screen. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to update the AVN radio software to address these conditions.

Production Change Information





This bulletin applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

NOTE

Premium HDD Navigation is not offered on Camry or Camry HV vehicles produced at the SIA plant, only TMMK.

Required Tools & Equipment

NOTE

^ This software change is only applicable to the HDD inside Denso AVN type units.

^ The unit can be identified quickly by the MAP button.

1. Cycle ignition switch to Accessory mode. The Map screen should display.





2. Press "SETUP".





3. Press "General".





4. Press the up arrow key one time.





5. Press "Software Update".

6. Verify software.





^ If current version number is "V6673170" or greater, STOP - This bulletin does NOT apply.

^ If version is less than "V6673170" then proceed to the update procedure.

Software Update Procedure

NOTE

If AVN radio is currently in the "software update" screen, then proceed to step 8.

1. Confirm that the vehicle is equipped with an AVN (HDD type head unit).

2. For Prius V vehicles only: Install GR8 Battery Diagnostic Station or "back up" power supply and connect to vehicle 12V battery terminals.

3. Turn on ACC. Map will be displayed.





4. Press "SETUP".





5. Press "General".





6. Press the up arrow key one time.





7. Press "Software Update".





8. Connect USB memory stick for the update.





9. Press "Update Software".





10. Press "Yes".





11. Software Update screen will show "Copying new software...". Please do not turn off the vehicle.





12. Turn off the vehicle and then turn ignition switch back to Accessory mode.





13. "Updating software..." will display once loading begins.





14. The Map will display once the update is complete. Press "Do Not Display This Message Again".





15. Remove USB memory stick from USB port.

16. Confirm the software version is updated by performing the Software Version Check Procedure.
