C59 MANUAL TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH Removal

2. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL RH Removal

3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

4. REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT Removal

7. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT Removal

8. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET Removal

10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal

11. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Separate the 3 clamps, and disconnect the wire harness from the shift lever assembly.





(b) Remove the clip and disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.





(c) Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.

(d) Using a screwdriver, pull out the transmission control cable.

NOTICE:
Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.





(e) Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

NOTICE:
Do not rotate the nut excessively as it may damage the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.





12. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and the shift lever assembly.
