C1541
POWER ASSIST SYSTEMS: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: C1541: Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction
C1541 - Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The power steering ECU assembly receives vehicle speed signals from the brake booster with master cylinder (skid control ECU) via CAN communication. The ECU provides appropriate assisting force in accordance with the vehicle speed, based on the signals.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
If the power steering ECU assembly has been replaced with a new one, perform assist map writing and rotation angle sensor value initialization torque sensor zero point calibration after performing the initialization of the torque sensor zero point value Programming and Relearning.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
(a) Check if DTC U0129 is output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result:
HINT
DTC U0129 indicates a brake booster with master cylinder (skid control ECU) communication malfunction in the power steering system.
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM How to Proceed With Troubleshooting
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM)
(a) Check for DTCs of the electronically controlled brake system Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
Electronically controlled brake system DTCs are not output.
NG -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE Electronically Controlled Brake System
OK -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
