Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH OPERATION

(a) Apply the parking brake and turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Step on the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is in N or P, but does not start in the other positions.

(c) Check that the back-up lights illuminate when the shift lever is in R, and that they do not illuminate with the shift lever in the other positions.
