Removal





BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.

1. POSITION FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal

6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal

8. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal

9. REMOVE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the horn connector.

(b) Slide the slider and disengage the airbag connector.

(c) Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.

(d) Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.





CAUTION:
* Do not replace the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
* Do not rotate the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
* Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).
* Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
* If there is a malfunction in the steering angle sensor, replace the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.
