Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

The filter element should be replaced at normal maintenance intervals to ensure reliable operation of the pump and injectors.
1. Remove filter flange with element from body panel and invert the assembly on the mounting studs.
2. Remove element from flange.
3. Fill new element with clean diesel fuel (no further priming should be necessary when filter is full of fuel).
4. Coat rubber seal with diesel fuel and install new element on flange.
5. Remount flange to body.
6. Start engine and check for fuel leaks at flange.
