In response to complaints of power steering noise (knocking), DO NOT REPLACE the steering rack..

Perform the following:

FIGURE 1 - PINCH BOLT LOCATION:

Note

Steering wheel, column covers, and column switches are removed for illustration only.


Work Sequence

- loosen steering column pinch bolt (FIG. 1, arrow)
- raise front of vehicle off ground

- steer wheels completely to left then right
- steer wheels to straight ahead position

- lower vehicle
- torque pinch bolt to 9 N-m (7 ft.lbs.)
