For cases of noise or vibration transmitted through clutch pedal during clutch application, following modification has been developed:
Work sequence
- remove clutch cable
- bend clutch cable firewall tube upward 2 mm (5/64 in..) so cable does not kink between firewall and brake booster
- reinstall clutch cable
Note
Replace cable if severely kinked
- before securing clutch cable to operating lever, trim 2 mm (5/64 in.) off rear edge of isolator housing (arrow) to prevent contact with clutch operating lever
- install isolator housing with trimmed edge toward operating lever
- install retaining clip
- adjust clutch free play (see Product Circular Grp 30, 82-04 of Dec. 20, 1982)
- if noise/vibration condition still persists, install 320 gram balance weight (see Product Circular Grp 30, 83-02 of August 9, 1983)
