BRAKE PADS, REPLACE

1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheels.
2. Pry off spreader spring, then remove pad retainer bolt and pull retainer out of caliper, Fig. 6.
3. Using pliers, or equivalent, pull pads out of caliper yoke.
4. Using tool US 1023-4, push caliper piston fully into bore.
5. Install new pads and pad retainer, then torque pad retainer nut to 14 ft. lbs.
6. Snap spreader spring over pad. Ensure arrow on spring points upward.

CALIPER, REPLACE

1. Remove disc brake pads as outlined previously.
2. Remove yoke retainers, then the yoke and caliper as an assembly.
3. Disconnect brake line from caliper.

4. Place yoke and caliper on workbench, then using a wooden drift, drive caliper out of yoke, Fig. 7.
5. Reverse procedure to install and bleed brake system.

CALIPER OVERHAUL

1. Remove caliper as outlined previously.

2. Remove two piston dust boot retaining rings, then the dust boots, Fig. 2.
3. Position caliper in a suitable vise and support with wooden blocks.
4. Apply low pressure compressed air to fluid port and blow pistons out of cylinders.
5. Using a plastic rod, pry piston seals out of cylinder bores.
6. Coat new piston seals and pistons with brake cylinder paste, then install into cylinder bores.
7. Install dust boots and attaching rings onto pistons.
8. Install cylinder assembly into yoke.
9. Install cylinder and yoke assembly, then bleed brake system.
