March 5, 1985
Normal body flexing can cause the harness routing tab located in the left A-pillar to make a creaking noise. This noise can be easily misunderstood as coming from the left side of the instrument panel. The routing tab has been modified for increased clearance as of December 1984, VIN FV017500.

Eliminate the noise in vehicles produced earlier as follows:

Work sequence

- remove left A-pillar trim piece

- fabricate tool from 5-6 mm rod that can be inserted upward into A-pillar through slot (arrow) without interference from dashboard
- bend tab outward 2-3 mm

Note

Tab is located approx. under dimple in A-pillar, 40-50 mm (1-1/2 - 2 in.) above slot.

CAUTION

Tab bends easily.. Do not bend too far outward.
- check that noise has been eliminated and install trim
