Hall Effect Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Hall sender, checking

Requirement

Electrical checks (wiring and component checks) OK

Voltage supply, checking






- disconnect Hall sender (distributor) and connect multimeter US 1119 to outer terminals of Hall sender connector
- switch ignition ON
specified value: minimum 10 volts

If NO
- replace control unit
- switch ignition OFF

Function, checking

- slip back rubber boot from Hall sender connector
- ground coil wire (use adaptor if necessary)






- connect voltage tester US 1115 to center and outer contacts of Hall sender connector (if necessary, use jumper wire)
- operate starter and check signal from Hall sender
if LED flickers, Hall sender is OK

If NO
- replace Hall sender
