Discontinuation of Ball Latch in Door Handle

Production Change

As of 4/90 the lock cylinder ball latch is discontinued on vehicles with central locking system.





When repairs are carried out, the ball (2), and the spring (3), no longer need to be installed.

Once the stock of old handles is exhausted, only the new version without the ball and spring will be available.

Function Check of Central Locking

Test conditions:

^ All doors closed, unlocked, windows open.

^ Trunk and gas door closed

Checking:

^ Lock driver side door with key, do not hold key in lock position

^ Pump must lock all doors and gas door and trunk approx. 2 seconds after locking with key

^ Unlock driver side door - all locks must unlock

^ Repeat procedure with passenger door key lock

^ Repeat procedure with driver side lock button

Power window option only

^ Lock driver side key lock, hold key in lock position

^ All four windows must go up one at a time to secure vehicle

^ Repeat procedure for passenger side key lock

Note
Central locking can only be activated by the driver side lock knob, the driver side key lock, or passenger side key lock.
