Engine Oil Specification

- Multi-grade oil corresponding to VW standard 501 01
- High performance or light duty oil corresponding to VW standard 500 00
- In emergency: multi-grade or single grade oils corresponding to API-SF or SG.

Table C:

Table C illustrates single-grade and multi-grade oil viscosity ratings and the temperature ratings for which they are suitable. Select an oil with an SAE viscosity rating that covers the coldest temperature at which you expect to start and drive the car. A "W" in the SAE rating indicates that the oil is suitable for winter use.

CAUTION: When using SAE 10W, SAE 5W-20 or SAE 5W-30 oil above the recommended temperature range, avoid high speed, long distance driving.

CAUTION: Oils with different viscosity ratings may be mixed, such as when adding oil between changes. Mixing oils of different API service ratings or brands is not recommended.
