Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Camber

Camber should never be adjusted by moving position of ball joint in control arm.

1. Loosen bolts securing suspension strut to wheel bearing housing.
2. Move top of wheel/tire in or out to achieve proper camber.
3. On Corrado, Golf, GTI and Jetta models, torque bolts to 59 ft. lbs., then recheck camber.
4. On Passat models, torque bolts to 70 ft. lbs., then recheck camber.
5. If camber is out of specified range, use replacement bolt, part N 101 740.01. This will allow 1° of camber adjustment.
6. Using original bolt in lower position, pivot top of wheel/tire in or out to achieve proper camber.
7. If more movement is required for specified camber, replace original bolt with part N 101 740.01.
8. On Corrado, Golf, GTI and Jetta models, torque bolts to 59 ft. lbs., then recheck camber.
9. On Passat models, torque bolts to 70 ft. lbs., then recheck camber.
