E. Check EGR Valve Function

E. Check EGR valve function

Caution!
Connecting vacuum test gauge incorrectly will result in permanent damage to vacuum gauge.

- Remove yellow line from EGR valve and connect T-piece with vacuum test gauges to EGR valve. Connect vacuum pump to open end of T-piece.
- Start engine, run until warm and let idle. Idle should be normal.

- Activate pump. EGR valve should begin to open at 110 mbar (3.2 in HG), (read right gauge), a slight idle fluctuation should be noticeable

- Disconnect vacuum test gauges and T-piece to avoid damaging gauges. Reconnect vacuum pump to EGR valve as shown.
- Increase vacuum to 300 mbar (8.8 in HG) - read gauge on pump
^ engine idle should be rough

If all specifications were obtained:
^ EGR valve is functioning properly
^ If NOT OK, replace EGR valve.
- After replacing EGR valve, recheck vacuum specifications.
