3. BASIC AND VISUAL CHECKS




^ Check fuel rail wires for slack. Check ground connections on cylinder head, battery terminal and transmission.

^ Make sure all harnesses are stress-free and that wire insulation does not hide broken wires. If necessary, perform Voltage drop test to verify ground connections.

^ Check that oil cap and dip stick are secure and not leaking vacuum.

^ Check intake air boot and all connecting hoses and clamps for leaks.

^ Check all small vacuum hoses for leaks. Make sure they fit snugly on port connections. If necessary, refer to the hose diagram label in the engine compartment or repair information.


3.1 CONTACT ENHANCER, APPLYING

When a contact enhancer is required: Use VW # ZVW 186 001

Note
The use of contact enhancing material on Oxygen sensor connectors is not allowed, because it will alter the performance of the Oxygen sensor.
