Shift Linkage Adjust
Check lever position first- The round holes indicated by arrows (A) must be aligned with corresponding round holes in the lever plate and housing
- Bolts should be centered in elongated holes (arrow B)
NOTE: If bolts cannot be centered, turn the bearing 180° and install bolts.
Linkage checks
- Shift transmission to neutral
- Loosen the shift rod clamp (arrow)
NOTE: Weather seal boot (1) is no longer used.
- Slide the shift rod as necessary in the clamp until dimension X is equal at the front and rear edges of the stop on the shift rod
- Tighten the clamp bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
- Move the gearshift lever so that the stop finger is as far as possible away from the stop plate surface on the lever plate and housing (The gearshift lever will be away from the drivers seat, aligned with the gate for 3rd and 4th gears)
- In this position, dimension (a), should be 15 mm (19/32 in)
- If dimension (a) is incorrect, loosen the shift rod clamp. then slightly rotate the shift rod on the selector lever until dimension (a) is correct
- retorque the nut on the clamp to 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
- Following the shift rod adjustments, check that all gears engage smoothly, easily, and fully
- If necessary, correct the adjustment of the shift rod
