1. Pull the temperature control lever and the fresh air blower knob straight out from the control head.
2. Pry the trim plate from the instrument panel, and remove the screws holding the control head to the panel.
3. Tilt the control head to remove the multi-point vacuum plug, electrical connector, and heater control valve cable.
4. Remove the control head.

NOTE: Install in the reverse order of removal, and adjust the control cable.





1 Heater control (temperature) cable
2 Temperature regulator flap servo vacuum hose
3 Temperature regulator flap vacuum servo
- Vacuum applied = temperature regulator flap closed no air flow to heater core.
- No vacuum = temperature regulator flap open, air flow through heater core.
4 Heater control valve
5 Vacuum check valve
6 T-connection (vacuum supply)
7 Vacuum reservior
8 Vacuum hose to temperature, regulator flap vacuum servo
9 Vacuum hose to vacuum supply (T-connection in engine compartment)





1. Adjust temperature control lever to max. cold position (arrow).





2. Unfasten cable retaining clip on heater control valve.
3. Push heater control valve lever in direction of (arrow) to stop (fully closed).
4. Reposition cable and fasten cable retaining clip.

If adjustment cannot be made:
1. Loosen control lever assembly in instrument panel (do not remove).





2. Check temperature cable position on control lever assembly, cable heathing must butt-up against stop (arrow).
3. Reposition temperature cable as necessary.
