California Vehicles (Digifant I)

To replace the Air Flow Sensor:

Air Flow Sensor:





1. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor.
2. Remove the large hose clamp and disconnect the intake air hose.

Digifant II Air Cleaner Housing:





3. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses from upper air cleaner housing noting position of each hose.
4. Separate the upper air cleaner housing from the lower air cleaner housing.
5. Working from inside the upper air cleaner housing, remove the air flow sensor mounting bolts.
6. Remove the air flow sensor and its gasket.
7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
8. Replace sensor gasket if it is deformed or damaged.
9. Use care not to overtighten the mounting bolts, torque the air flow sensor mounting bolts to:

44 in.lbs. (5 Nm)

NOTE: Because of its adaptive capability, the Digifant I control unit MUST be returned to its reference settings IF:

1. The coolant temperature sensor (blue connector) has been disconnected while the engine is running.

2. Any of these components have been replaced:
^ Digifant I control unit
^ Air flow sensor
^ Throttle valve potentiometer
^ Throttle body
