Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

California Vehicles (Digifant I)

Air Flow Sensor:

1. With the ignition switch "OFF" remove the harness connector at the air flow sensor.
2. Connect a suitable volt/ohm meter between terminal 3 and 4 of the air flow sensor plug and measure the resistance.

^ The correct measurement should be approx. 500 to 1000 ohms

3. Disconnect the intake boot.
4. Connect the volt/ohm meter between terminal 2 and 3 of the air flow sensor plug. Measure the resistance while moving the air flow sensor flap.

^ The resistance should change as the flap is moved.

NOTE: If the flap binds or sticks when moved, replace the air flow sensor.

If the correct measurements are not obtained, the air flow sensor is defective. Replace the air flow sensor.

NOTE: Because of its adaptive capability, the Digifant I control unit MUST be returned to its reference settings IF:

1. The coolant temperature sensor (blue connector) has been disconnected while the engine is running.

2. Any of these components have been replaced:
^ Digifant I control unit
^ Air flow sensor
^ Throttle valve potentiometer
^ Throttle body
