Engine Speed Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Harness Connector Terminal I.D.:

- With the ignition "OFF", remove the WHITE 3-pin harness connector from the Engine Speed Sensor.

Engine Sensor Harness Connector:

- Check resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of sensor.

^ SHOULD BE: 500-700 ohms.
^ IF NOT: Replace Engine Speed Sensor.

- Check resistance between terminals 1 and 3 of sensor.

^ SHOULD BE: infinite ohms (no continuity).
^ IF NOT: Replace Engine Speed Sensor (even if resistance is very high).

- Check resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of sensor.

^ SHOULD BE: infinite ohms (no continuity).
^ IF NOT: Replace Engine Speed Sensor (even if resistance is very high).
