Front Seats, Removing And Installing

NOTE: Removal and installation is described for left side of vehicle. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the right-hand side.

Removing

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for working on airbags.

- Disconnect vehicle battery.







- Push seat forward.
- Unclip cover cap - 1 - from tunnel-side cover strip - 3 -, unscrew bolt - 2 -, unclip cover strip for seat rail - arrow A - and pull off - arrow B -.
- Unclip cover cap - 4 - from door sill-side cover strip - 6 -, unscrew bolt - 5 -, unclip cover strip for seat rail - arrow C - and pull off - arrow D -.
- Slide seat toward rear.
- Remove bolts - 7 - (23 Nm).
- Push seat back out of guide rail.







- Lift seat in front area until wiring harnesses and coupling station are accessible under seat.

CAUTION: Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the airbag. Therefore, the mechanic must be electrostatically discharged before disconnecting ignition- and Ground (GND) wires. This is done e.g. by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.

- Disconnect wiring harness for side airbag - 1 - from connector station - 2 -.
- If installed, disconnect connector for seat heater - 3 - from connector station.
- Connect connector - 4 - Airbag Adapter VAS 5094 into connector housing - 5 -.
- If Airbag Adapter VAS 5094 does not fit in connector housing, Airbag Adapter VAS 5232/1 must be used.

Installing
- Installation is the reverse order of removal.
- Switch ignition on.

CAUTION: Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect vehicle battery.
