Front Seat Belt With Belt Tensioner, Assembly Overview



WARNING!
Before starting any body disassembly, straightening or any other body repair work, the belt tensioning units must be removed.


CAUTION!
After an accident in which one or more belt tensioners have been activated, both seat belts must be replaced (belts will no longer retract)




1 - Belt height adjustment
- Remove upper B pillar trim prior to adjusting height mechanism
2 - Belt relay
3 - Belt guide
- Secured with 2 screws
- 1.5 Nm (9-15 in. lb)
4 - Seat belt with belt tensioner
- Remove lower B-pillar trim and sill panel trim.
- Retaining lugs determine position of belt retractor
- Loosening bell retractor bolt -6- makes belt tensioner safe and the opposite returns belt tensioner to a functional position.
- Return old (removed) components that have not been activated, to Volkswagen of America for disposal.
5 - Front belt lock
6 - Bolt 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
