Turbocharger, Failure Due to Lack of Lubrication

Technical Background

Lack of scheduled maintenance and/or high temperatures may cause oil in the oil supply line to coke, which can restrict or stop oil flow to the turbocharger.

Lack of oil flow may damage the turbocharger.

Production Solution
Revised heat shield installed beginning with VIN: 3B_XE000100.See Required Parts and Tools.

Service
If turbocharger is replaced due to lack of lubrication (up to VIN noted above):
- Also replace the oil supply line and heat shield as indicated in the table below:
