Recaro Seat, Removing And Installing

NOTE: Removal and installation is described for left side of vehicle. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the right-hand side.

Removing

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for working on airbags.







- Place Recaro seat in the front most position, using electric seat adjustment.
- Unclip cover cap - 1 - from tunnel-side cover strip - 3 -, unscrew bolt - 2 -, unclip cover strip for seat rail - arrow A - and pull off - arrow B -.
- Unclip cover cap - 4 - from door sill-side cover strip - 6 -, unscrew bolt - 5 -, unclip cover strip for seat rail - arrow C - and pull off - arrow D -.
- Place Recaro seat in the rear most position, using electric seat adjustment.
- Disconnect vehicle battery.
- Remove bolts - 7 - (23 Nm).
- Push Recaro seat back out of guide rails.
- Lift seat in front area until wiring harnesses and connector station are accessible under seat.

CAUTION: Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the airbag. Therefore, the mechanic must be electrostatically discharged before disconnecting ignition- and Ground (GND) wires. This is done e.g. by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.

- Disconnect wiring harnesses from connector station.
- Connect Airbag Adapter VAS 5232/1 onto connector housing for side airbag.
- Remove Recaro seat from vehicle.

Installing
- Installation is the reverse order of removal.
- Switch ignition on.

CAUTION: Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect vehicle battery.
