Unibody: Service and Repair

- Remove dampening pan.
- Remove front bumper.







- Remove left and right combi hex bolts -1-.
- Pivot radiator and lock carrier plate toward front -arrow-.







- Remove hex bolt and washer assemblies -1- from both sides.







- Pull apron -1- off pins -3- using shop made hooks -2- (2.0 mm dia.), as shown.
- Insert hook over or under pins -3- -arrows-.







- Remove headlight and turn signal assemblies from both sides (four combi hex bolts -arrows-) and disconnect electrical connectors.







- Connect radiator to workshop crane (VAG 1202A or equivalent).
- Drive pins out of spreader clips -arrows- on both sides and remove spreader clips from radiator brackets.
- Lift radiator with workshop crane.







- Remove cross member -1- together with headlight brackets -2-.
- Combi hex bolt -3- = 8.0 Nm (71 in. lb)
- Combi hex bolt -4- = 8.0 Nm (71 in. lb)
- Unclip electrical connectors from cross member/headlight brackets.

Reinstall in reverse sequence.
